Ruth Ann Babb Carr, 54, of Pennsylvania Furnace, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Hershey Medical Center.

She was born July 27, 1962, in Petersburg, VA; a daughter of the late Jesse B. and Shirley Ann Garner Babb.

On July 18, 1981 she married Keith G. Carr who survives at home.

Ruth was a graduate of Tidewater Academy in Wakefield, VA and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from John Tyler Community College.

She began her career at various hospitals in VA, then, after moving to PA, worked as a midwife, spending nearly ten years in that position. She later worked at Health South Rehabilitation Hospital in Pleasant Gap then went on to be the assistant director of nursing at Brookline (Now Juniper Village) in State College. Most recently she worked as a hospice nurse with Grane Hospice. Nursing in various positions was the perfect career for her, because she devoted her life to making other lives better when she could. Ruth was uniquely and innately gifted as a compassionate, caring person.

While nursing was her gift, vocation and passion, she enjoyed music and served as a music director in one of the churches she attended and loved spending time at the beach.

Surviving Mrs. Carr in addition to her husband, are three daughters, Tiffany Hettinger of Rebersburg, Krysti Carr of Boulder CO, and Phoebe Carr of Pennsylvania Furnace; two grandchildren Gabriel and Gavin Hettinger; two brothers, Dr. Terrence Babb and his wife Kimberly of Pine Grove Mills, and the Rev. Perry Babb and his wife Jacqueline of State College; and her father in law, Gene Carr of Waverly, VA.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Justin Caleb Carr.

Friends will be received from 1 – 2:30 p. m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Unity Church of Jesus Christ, 140 N. Gill St., State College, PA. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 at the church with the Reverends Perry Babb and Marshall Peters officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
