Sandra Jean Lutz, 51, of rural Bellefonte, passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. She born Jan. 8, 1958, a daughter of Earl H. and Zelda H. Richner Lutz, of rural Bellefonte.

She is survived by her brother, Edgar L. Lutz, and his son, Adam; and a brother, John A. Lutz, and his son, Wyatt, all of Bellefonte.

She was a 1975 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School and the Centre County Vo-Tech school. She was employed at Danks & Co. at the Nittany Mall, helping with inventory for several years and then becoming a sales associate. She also worked at B.J.'s Country Side Inn and Foggy's Notion as a waitress. She was then employed at the Nittany Lion Inn, Scanticon and The Penn Stater for several years and most recently at the North Halls Housing at Penn State. The North/West Halls employees, Res Life Staff and RA's became her second family and her biggest supporters after her diagnosis of breast cancer in 2004. She retired on disability in the fall of 2008 due to a recurrence of cancer.

She enjoyed crocheting, collecting panda bears, reading, yard sales and participating in craft shows. She also enjoyed exploring little towns and flea markets with her boyfriend, Ralph Nau, of Smithmill. Sandra would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses during her illness and all of her treatments over the years. All of them were 100 percent responsible for helping her to survive, both physically and emotionally, as long as she did.

Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Alex Dyakiw officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Boggs Township.
