Obituary of Sara Thomas, 82

Sara Jane “Sue” Thomas, 82, of Bellefonte, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Hearthside Nursing Home in State College. Born on June 10, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Meyers) Summers. On August 2, 1957, she married her husband, Robert Thomas, who survives at home.

She was a 1953 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School where she participated in the school band. Sue also participated in the American Legion Band. She went on to work for the Bellefonte Chamber of Commerce. She worked as an office manager for the State College Borough, where she later retired from.

In addition to her husband, Sue is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Jill) Thomas of Julian, PA, and Gregory (Carol) Thomas of Port Matilda; two grandchildren, Hannah Thomas of Austin, TX, and Nathanial R. Thomas of Julian, PA. Also surviving are two brothers, Richard Summers of Cogan Station, PA, and Robert (Linda) Summers of Atlanta, GA.

Sue was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Susquehanna Drifters and enjoyed her camping trips with them. She was an avid poodle lover, especially her beloved dogs Ruffie and Angus.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
