Obituary of Sarah Etters, 79

Sarah Elizabeth Etters, 79 of Howard, loving mother, grandmother and mother-in-law, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at her home in Howard. She was born on September 28, 1931 in Walker Twp., Centre Co. Sarah was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Joan Conway Shaffer.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, and collecting angels, but above all she liked spending time with her family. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Jacksonville.

On July 21, 1952 in Virginia she married Gilbert L. Etters who preceded her in death on February 14, 1974.

She is survived by one daughter; Sandy Shivery and husband Jack, and Two sons; Kenneth and wife Brenda and Robert and wife Ruth all of Howard. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren; Teresa Bumbarger, Julie & Jessica Shivery and Bobbi Jo Etters, and 5 great-grandchildren; Timara and Taci Fogleman, Cody Shivery, Tommy Bumbarger and Hunter Henney. She is also survived by 4 sisters; Charlotte Bloom of Strasburg, Rebecca Shawver and husband Dean of Jacksonville, Barbara Peck of Howard, Dorothy Roan of Centre Hall. One brother; Don Shaffer and wife Diane of Howard. She was preceded by a brother Jim and two sisters; Virginia and Margie.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard with the Rev. Dr. Russel J. Moldovan officiating. Visitation will be Monday, November 22, 2010 at the funeral home from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Boggs Twp.
