Sarah Ann Cromer Steindorf, 80, of State College, died Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Anthony House at Foxdale Village, State College.

Born January 11, 1935 in Moscow, Iowa, to the late Harold and Ella Schneider Cromer, Sarah was the middle sister in a farm family of five girls.

She graduated from Wilton (Iowa) High School in 1951 and worked as an accounting clerk at various businesses before and during her primary career as homemaker.

On August 17, 1958, Sarah married Wallace D. Steindorf who survives at home.

Sarah enjoyed traveling, especially annual trips to the beach and the many trips she and Wally took overseas and out west. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, State College, and she volunteered many hours of service, especially at St. Paul’s, Mount Nittany Health, and Centre Volunteers in Medicine. She enjoyed cooking, reading, word games and cards, and time spent with her family.

In addition to her husband, Sarah is survived by three children, Paul H. Steindorf and wife, Joanne, of State College, Jon W. Steindorf of Cary, NC, and Ellen Sherbert, and her husband, James, of Freeport, ME; also two sisters, Lois Wellendorf of Davenport, IA, and Wanda Martens, and her husband, Bud, of Rock Falls, IL; and four grandchildren, Matt and Jon Steindorf, and Darby and Piper Sherbert.

In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy Holtz and Frances Kuehl.

Friends will be received at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, on Thursday, October 1, 2015, from 10:30am until 12:00pm. The funeral service will follow at 12:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Eric Shafer and Jennifer Gruendler officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
