Stanley G. Burkholder, 81, of Unionville, died at his residence on Sunday, April 21, 2013.

He was born on Monday, March 7, 1932 in Altoona, and was the son of the late Walter R. and Roseanna Mary Eminhizer Burkholder.

In 1959, at the Lutheran Church in Boalsburg he married the former Cecille Horner, who survives at home.

Stanley served in the US Army from 1953 to 1956. He lived in Unionville all his life and worked as a fork lift operator at Cerro Metal Products in Bellefonte for 47 years before retiring. In addition to being a supervisor at Penn State football games for 43 years, he managed the water works in Unionville and was a maintenance man for Unionville Borough; he worked at the Grange Fair for 43 years, was on the fair committee for 6 years and was a member of Union Grange. Stanley loved his jobs. He also parked cars for a number of years at Ag Progress Days. He worked at a gas station on Route 220 for 13 years and until his death was employed at the IM Building at Penn State.

He loved spending time with his wife, his children, grandchildren and two dogs. He was very proud of being the only baseball coach for the Unionville Cardinal Baseball Team who went on to win a championship in 1965.

He was a member of the Berean Bible Fellowship Church in Unionville.

In addition to being a wonderful and caring husband for 53 years, was a foster parent of two boys.

In addition to his wife Cecille, he is survived by three daughters, Pamela Pletcher (Randy) of Bellefonte, Kimberly Burkholder of Madisonburg, and Patty Zink of Unionville; grandchildren Timothy Kessling, Katarina and Karlie Pletcher, Gabrielle Davidson, Dylan, Nicholas, and Joshua Zink, and Jamie Burkholder; one brother, the Reverend Barry Burkholder (Gerry) of Virginia, and a niece Keri Marston (Chris) of Virginia.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Steven Burkholder.

Friends will be received from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral & Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. A viewing will also be held on Friday, April 26 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Berean Bible Fellowship Church, 360 Race Street, Unionville, PA. The service will immediately follow at 10 a.m. at the Church with the Reverend John Palmer and the Reverend Barry Burkholder officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College.
