Stephen William Reed, 55, of Reedsville, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, as a result of pancreatic cancer.
Born May 17, 1954, in Altoona, he was a son of Robert W. Reed, of Lewistown, and Doris Maxine (Hopkins) Reed, of Lewistown. On Sept. 18, 1982, he married Linda F. Kane, who survives at home. In addition to his parents and his wife, he is survived by his children, Christopher A. Reed, Matthew W. Reed, Lauren E. Reed and Wesley J. Reed, all at home; two brothers, Gregory R. Reed and his wife Susan, of Elizabethtown, and Mark C. Reed and his wife Danielle of McClure; and 16 special nieces and nephews.
Steve was a 1972 graduate of Penn Highlands School in Lewistown. He was also a graduate of the Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Va.. Following that he attended York College and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Steve was in the car business for 27 years. Most recently, he was a general sales manager at State College Ford in State College. He attended the Locust Grove Mennonite Church and the Encouragers Sunday school class. He enjoyed hunting, running, working and most of all spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at Locust Grove Mennonite Church. A funeral service will be held in his honor at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at the church, with Pastor Max Zook officiating. Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville.
