Obituary of Sylvia R. Nyman, 79

Sylvia R. Nyman, 79, of Howard, passed away on December 30, 2015 at her home. Born on January 4, 1936, in Howard, she was the daughter of the late Marie Weaver Nyman and James R. Nyman, Jr.

Sylvia was of the protestant faith. She attended the Howard High School. After high school, she worked for a short time at the Howard Nursery. Following her father’s death in 1975, Sylvia assumed the duties of running the family farm, which she continued until her death. Her life was centered around managing the farm and tending to its many animals. She thoroughly loved caring for the animals

Sylvia is survived by her sister in-law, Dolores Nyman of Howard, and by numerous nieces and nephews, including her caregivers, Gail Miller and Cindy Bartley.

Along with her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her two brothers, Paul Nyman and Floyd Nyman, two sisters; Helen Bartley and Louise Derr, and her companion of many years, Levi. Sylvia was the last of her generation.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 1-3pm at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home in Howard. Funeral services will follow at 3pm with Rev. Melody Weston officiating. Burial will be private at the Summit-Hill Wesleyan Church Cemetery.
