Obituary of Thomas Benner , 78

Thomas V. “Tom” Benner, 78, of Milesburg, died Thursday, January 29, 2015, in Bellefonte. Tom was born August 25, 1936, in Milesburg, the son of the late Grover C. and Bertha Flynn Benner. On October 23, 1959, he married the former Sandra Gearhart who survives at home.

He was a 1954 graduate of Bellefonte High School. Tom was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He worked in maintenance in the heating and ventilating department at Penn State before his retirement. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of Milesburg American Legion Post 893, the NRA and the North American Fishing Club. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter,Lori J. (Gary) Grube, of Lemont; one son, Timothy A. Benner, of State College; and one brother, Richard C. Benner, of Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Jean Quick.

Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Meyer Cemetery, Benner Township, Centre County.
