Obituary of Velma F. Ondo, 97

Velma F. Ondo, 97, of Moshannon, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Clearfield. Born on May 18, 1912, in Chesterfield, she was the daughter of the late Alexander & Anna Duke Sabol. On May 28, 1937, she married Joseph D. Ondo who passed away on August 8, 1968.

Velma was a homemaker. She was a member of the Queen of Archangel Parish Chapel in Snow Shoe.
Velma resided with her daughter and son in-law, Barb and Ed Skripek for 41 years before moving to Mt. Laurel. She enjoyed working as a cook at the Moshannon Community Center, loved to travel on bus trips to various places with her friends from the community center, was always working on crossword puzzles and made many crocheted doilies and baby afghans.

Velma is survived by her daughters, Donna M Bezilla (Eugene) of Spartanburg, SC, Barbara A Skripek (Edward) of Moshannon, and Beverly J Sidorick (Andrew) of Clarksburg, MD; by her bother Valentine “Walter” Sabol of FL, her sisters Anna Jaworek of NY and Cecelia Sabol of Erie. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Brian Bezilla, Bradley Bezilla, Beth Bezilla, Bridget Meggs, Tamara Ramalho, Mark Skripek, Michael Skripek, Kimberly Sidorick, & Megan Mackey, and by her 12 great grandchildren.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and three sisters.

isitation will be on Sunday, January 31, 2010, from 2-4 & 6-8pm with a rosary service at 7:45pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W Sycamore St, Snow Shoe. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Queen of Archangel Parish in Clarence, at 10am with Father Lubomir Strecok officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.
