Victoria Lee Witherite, 64, of Pennsylvania Furnace, passed away on the morning of December 27, 2018 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born in Bellefonte on November 22, 1954, she was the daughter of Grayce Witherite Amick of State College and the late L. Jay Witherite.

A graduate of Penns Valley High School, she went on to earn her practical nurse license in 1984 before beginning her career as a phlebotomist at Mount Nittany Medical Center in 1988, where she remained faithfully employed for 30 years until her retirement in December 2018.

She is survived by her mother, Grayce; two sons: Matthew Witherite, of Pennsylvania Furnace, and Michael (Ashlee) Witherite, of Bellefonte; four brothers: Russ (Sharon) Witherite, of Morrisdale, David (Ellie) Witherite of Pennsylvania Furnace, Wendell (Lisa) Witherite of Tusseyville, and Curt (Marie) Witherite of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as many nieces and nephews and two special grandgirls, all of whom she adored so dearly.

She was an avid lover of animals and on many occasions she would happily provide a home to a number of dogs and cats after a quick visit to the local animal shelter. She also enjoyed painting, and throughout the years she produced a number of beautiful pieces of artwork that will continue to adorn the walls of her loved ones. She was endlessly dedicated to her work at the hospital and she found joy in the care she was able to offer many of her patients on a daily basis.

She was deeply loved in life by many and she will always be remembered for how much she truly cherished her friends and family, her ability to offer a warm smile or a bit of her unique brand of humor when it was needed most, and her strength, courage, and sacrifices through the most difficult of times.

At her request, there will be no public memorial service. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that any memorial donations be made towards St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101 or Centre County PAWS, 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801, in remembrance of her selfless devotion and love for others.
