Obituary of Vivian Fravel Kunes, 93

Vivian Fravel Kunes, 93 of Beech Creek, departed this life on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 19, 1922, iin Beech Creek, the duaghter of Catherine Merryman. She was raised by her grandparents, Rosie & Irwin Fravel. On July 14, 1940, sher married the love of her life William (Bill) Kunes of Beech Creek who preceded her in death.

Vivian was a very active member of Liberty Baptist Church in Blanchard. She was a charter member of the Beech Creek Blanchard Ladies' Fireman's Auxilliary, the Beech Creek Legion, and the Beech Creek Friendship Community Center. She also was involved with the Senior Cheer Club and Ladies' Friendship Circle.

She was employed at various businesses: Sylvania, Piper, and Crow's Diner. From 1960 to 1973 she and Bill owned and operated Viv & Bill's Restaurant in Beech Creek.

Vivian enjoyed spending time with her family and crocheting. She also enjoyed selling knives and other items at varous bazaars.

Along with her husband she was preceded in death by eight sisters and brothers, son Garry, daughter Barbara Young and son-in-law Dave Wian. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Juanita Kunes; daughters Nancy (Terry) Hendricks; Trudy (Eddie) Weaver; Mary Wian; Dretta (Kevin) Andrews and son-in-law Don (Karen) Young, and brothers; Arden and Jay Merryman. She had 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.

Visitation and services will be Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Liberty Baptist Church, Blanchard with the services to follow at 6:00 p.m. with the Pastor Chris Davis and Rev. Alan S. Eckenroad officiating. Burial will be at the Baptist Cemetery in Blanchard at the families convenience.
