Obituary of Walter Dolan, 77

Walter E. Dolan, 77 of Blanchard, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at his residence. He was born February 27, 1935 in Lamar, Pa. the son of the late Harold and Ethel Wolfe Dolan.

He married Martha Muthler on September 15, 1962, she survives at home.

Walter graduated from Howard High School class of 54. He was a sales rep. for Clasters for 34 years, then with Lezzer Lumber for 10 years until his retirement in 1998.

He was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ where he served as Deacon and Sunday School treasurer. Walter proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was past president for I.C. Baseball for many years. He was an umpire for 40 years for various baseball and softball leagues in the area. He was a member of the Jacksonville Hunting Club. Walter enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Along with his wife he is survived by one daughter; Carol A. (Larry) Blackwell of Beech Creek, two sons; Michael E. (Alissa) Dolan of Hazelton and Douglas A. (Bonnie) of Cool, Calif., three brothers; Frank of Clearfield, Russell and Nevin both of Howard, six grandchildren; Morgan, Rebecca, Michaela, Brayden, Ariana, and Matthew, two step-grandchildren; Briana and Ciera and one step-great grandson; Joseph. He was preceded in death by a brother; Jerry and a sister; Lois Kauffman.

Memorial service will be Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blanchard Church of Christ, 161 Beach Street, Blanchard with the Rev. Dr. Russel J. Moldovan officiating. There will be a public visitation Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the church from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
