Obituary of Walter Snyder, 85

Walter Henry Snyder, 85, of Port Matilda, died June 28, 2013, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte. Born Nov. 3, 1927, in Patton Township, Centre County, he was the son of the late Ralph and Edna Snook Snyder. From 1957 until 1997, Walter was a self-employed truck driver and following his retirement he enjoyed selling produce at Matternville. His retirement activities allowed him to spend time talking with his customers and many friends.

Surviving are three sons, Ron (Helen) Snyder, of State College, Barry Snyder, of Julian, and Tim Snyder, of State College; three daughters, Sara (Larry) Richards, of Tyrone, Marie Snyder, of Howard, and Adrienna Snyder, of Williamsport; a brother, Clarence (Butch) Snyder, of Bellefonte; a sister, Judy( Robert) Hoy, of Lewisburg; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Henry and Shawn; two brothers, Jim and Blair; a sister, Carrie Loner; a grandson, Matthew Snyder; a granddaughter, Brooke Snyder and a great-granddaughter. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Bessie Snook and paternal grandparents, John and Rebecca Snyder.

Services will be held Monday, July 1, 2013, at 10 a.m., in the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg, with David Hersch, hospice chaplin, officiating. Interment will be in Meyer Cemetery, Benner Township, Centre County. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions my be made to the Patient Activities Fund at Centre Crest thru the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg.
