William J. Edmiston, 93, of Bellefonte, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township. Born on October 26, 1921, he is the son of the late Ralph E. and Nellie (Reese) Edmiston. On July 3, 1942, he married Anna Marie Jones Edmiston who preceded him in death on January 14, 2014.
He was a graduate of the Bellefonte Area High School and then went on to attend some classes at the Bucknell University.

William worked for Cerro Metal and Brass as an estimator.
William served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II from August 18, 1942 until June 12, 1945. He also served as a 1st Lieutenant in Field Artillery during the Korean Conflict from January 23, 1951 until September 30, 1952. For his service he received the Air Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign with the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Prisoner of War Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

He also served as Past Exalted Ruler and Life Member of the Bellefonte Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #1094, a Life Member of the Bellefonte Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1600, and also a Life Member of the Bellefonte American Legion Post #33.

William is survived by two daughters; Rose Ann Alters and her husband Gene and Darlene Smith and her husband Stanley, four grandchildren; Michele M. Deter and her husband Thomas, Stacey L. Davis and husband Thomas, Michael R. Wallace and his wife Beth, and William Smith and his wife Carla, five great-grandchildren; Shane Davis, Zackery Davis, Kyle Deter, Nicholas Deter, and Grace Myersmith, and one sister-in-law, Faye L. Kelleher.

Along with his parents and wife he is preceded in death by one sister, Betty.

Friends will be received Thursday, July 30, 2015, from 6pm until 8pm, at the Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte. There will be an Elks Memorial Service held at 7:45pm.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 31, 2015, at 11:00am, at the funeral home .

Burial will follow with full military honors at Centre County Memorial Park in College Township.
