Obituary of William G. Mastin , 60

William G. Mastin, 60, of Pine Grove Mills, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born June 11, 1951 in Lexington, KY, he was the son of the late Samuel E. and Mary M. Dressel Mastin. He married Karen Kendall on October 13, 1976, who survives.

He is survived by four children, Elijah S. Mastin and his wife, Justine, of Minneapolis, MN, Rachel P. Mastin, of Richmind, VA, Becky M. Mastin and her partner, Louis Weil, of Philadelphia, Timmy C. Mastin, of State College, one sister, Leanna Staggs, of Morehead, KY and two brothers, Dan Mastin and his wife, Pam, of Greenville, NC and Bob Mastin and his wife, Gail, of Springfield, KY. He is also survived by his beloved companion goldendoodle Eddie.

He was a 1969 graduate of Lafayette High School, Lexington, KY.

After working for various construction companies in KY and PA, Bill was excited to start his own company in 2000 known as Mastin Construction, Inc. of State College.

Bill was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2007 and after a liver transplant was in good health for several years until a relapse of his disease in 2009. Bill suffered a stroke on Tuesday and passed away while surrounded by family.

Public visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. A private memorial service will be held for the family with burial in the Graysville Cemetery.
