William L. Carroll, 93, of Carlisle passed away Friday, August 10, 2018, at the Southeastern Veterans’ Center. Born August 12, 1924, in Hallettsville, Texas, he was the son of the late Reverend L.M. Carroll and late Estella Harvey and the husband to the late Verma L. Carroll, former Carlisle Area School District teacher. William proudly served his country as a Combat Medic Specialist in the United States Army. He was a veteran of World War II. Following his Honorable discharge from the Army, William went on to serve as a Medical Technician at the Dunham U.S. Army Health Clinic at Carlisle Barracks.

William enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching sporting events, reading Western novels, and participating in Carlisle Lion’s Club events. He made a lasting impression on many with his jovial, joke-telling, kind, generous, and loving nature.

William is survived by his son, William J. Carroll and wife Janet E. Carroll of Hummelstown; son Keith L. Carroll and wife Michelle L. Carroll of Lancaster. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Heather M. Carroll, Tyler W. Carroll, Macy L. Carroll, Kamrin L. Carroll, and Monae L. Carroll. One sister, Mary Hastings of San Antonio, Texas.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. followed by services at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 20, 2018 in Shiloh Baptist Church, 409 N. West St., Carlisle, PA 17013. Burial with military honors will be held at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle, PA following the memorial service.
