Winnie L. Eckenroth, 76, of State College, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Mount Nittany Medical Center at State College.
She was born on June 28, 1933 in State College; a daughter of the late Kenneth T. and Helen Margarete (Sauers) Thomas.
She was a 1951 graduate of State College Area High School.
In December 15, 1951, she married Thomas 'Tim' A. Eckenroth, who survives at home.
Winnie was a member of St Paul United Methodist in State College. Playing bingo, bowling, and assembling jig saw puzzles were some of her favorite pastimes. Earlier in life, she was also an avid and accomplished roller skater.
She was employed by Meyer's Dairy, Weis Markets, and Penn Hi-Boy restaurant.
Mrs. Eckenroth is survived by a brother, Kent T. Thomas Jr. of Deerfield Beach, FL; a niece, Linda Hook of Alexandria, VA; and a nephew, Ralph Hook and his wife Judy of Rixeyville, VA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Ann Hook and a niece, Jeanne Hook Evans.
At her request, private memorial services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
