Patricia (Pat) Ellen Hillson passed away peacefully with her daughter, Carolyn, at her side on April 3, 2021 in Olney, Maryland, due to complications from dementia. Pat was a long-time resident of State College, Pennsylvania.

Pat was the eldest daughter of the late John Weaver Fulmer and Myrtle Morrow Fulmer of Easton, Pa. Pat grew up in Cranford, N.J., and subsequently moved to Havertown, PA, where she graduated from Haverford High School. She then went to school in Philadelphia where she became certified as a medical technologist. Pat worked at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, at Hahnemann Hospital and at the Curtis Publishing Company, all in Philadelphia. In State College, Pat was a registered cardiology technologist at the Centre Community Hospital (now Mount Nittany Medical Center), retiring in 1987 after 14 ½ years.

Pat married Charles James,” Jim”, Hillson on August 2, 1958 in Broomall, PA, and promptly took up residence in State College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim (on 3 December 2019). Pat was a devoted wife and mother.  She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Ann and her husband, Roger Sorensen of Olney, MD, her sister, Eleanore Morrow of Wilmington, DE., two step grandchildren, Kate Prisk of Gaithersburg, Md., and Andrew Sorensen of Levittown, Pa., and a niece, Krista Morrow Boothby, and her husband, Paul Boothby, of Lynchburg, VA.

In State College, Pat was an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and Alter Guild, the University Women’s Club knitting group and a Volunteer at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Pat loved to travel with her husband and daughter, enjoying trips to the Caribbean, Alaska, and Germany. It seemed that Pat knew almost everyone in State College as a 5-minute trip to the grocery store would end up being an hour as she spoke with friends. The family takes comfort knowing that Pat and Jim are together again and can finally continue to enjoy their Sunday scotch and hors d’oeuvres.

Friends may be received at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, PA, 16801, from 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 with a funeral service to be held at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, State College, PA, following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 208 West Foster Avenue, State College, PA, 16801, or the American Heart Association.
