Richard Kenneth Orndorf, 81, of Spring Mills, passed away at home on Monday, November 13, 2023. Born on September 16, 1942, in Coleville, he was the son of the late Wilbur James and Helen (Kline) Orndorf. On July 26, 1963, he married his beloved wife, Karen (Muller) Orndorf, who survives him at home after sharing 60 years of marriage together.
Richard was a 1960 graduate of Penns Valley High School. After school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army from January 1961 until he was honorably discharged in January 1964. Upon being discharged from the Army, he worked for Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven. He then worked for Whitehill Lighting in State College until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Karen, he is survived by his son, Eric G. Orndorf, of Yorkhaven, PA, four grandchildren, Nicholas Hoover, Matthew Orndorf, Laura Hoover, and Rachel Orndorf, and two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Carter. Also surviving is a brother, Robert Orndorf of McVeytown.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia L. Hoover, and his siblings, James Orndorf, and Sarah Gilmore.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Additionally, he was a talented craftsman and could build just about anything.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
