Ruby M. (Strouse) Long, 80, of Centre Hall, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on December 28, 1942, in Spring Mills, she was the daughter of the late John and Mildred (Bletz) Strouse. On August 11, 1962, in Spring Mills, she married the love of her life, Eugene B. “Gene” Long, who preceded her in death in 2018.
Ruby attended the Penns Valley School District. After she married Gene, she took pride in being a homemaker, caring for her family was her top priority.
Ruby enjoyed time spent at the Hidden Valley Camping Resort in Mifflinburg. She always held a soft spot in her heart for the Grange Fair, where she met her husband and started dating. She would attend it yearly and loved the memories it held as well as socializing with friends. She was quite the QVC shopper. She loved cooking for her family and loved them beyond measure. Her love of her granddaughters was evident to anyone that knew Ruby because she would boast about them to anyone willing to listen. She was a kind, loving, entertaining, and funny woman that will be forever missed in the hearts of those blessed to have known her.
Ruby is survived by her son, Brian E. Long and his wife, Joy A. of Millheim; two granddaughters, Lauren J. Long and Larissa M. Long, both of Millheim; three brothers, John Strouse and his wife, Florence, of State College, Sam Strouse of Bellefonte, and Rick Strouse and his wife, Becky, of Spring Mills,; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori J. Long on September 5, 1985 and two brothers, Walter Strouse and Frank Strouse.
Following Ruby’s wishes, there will be no services held at this time.
