Rudolph N. “Rudy” Dillon, 88, of Pennsylvania Furnace, passed into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at home surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 10, 1932 in Linden Hall, he was the son of Stewart T. and Virginia S. (Weader) Dillon. At a young age, he went to live on the farm with Wallace and Sara (Felding) White, who raised him as one of their own. On February 28, 1960 in Tusseyville, he married Helen Carol Weaver, who survives at home.

Rudy was a 1951 graduate of State College High School. He worked as a farmer prior to his service in the military. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1956 and honorably discharged in 1958. Rudy worked as a farmer and a mechanic, later becoming a carpenter for West Briar Corp., retiring in 2002.

Rudy was a former member of the Fairbrook United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and served as a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a hard worker and always had to be doing something, whether it was making things out of wood or dabbling with oil paints. He was a great handyman, who used his talents to build various play equipment in the yard that many of the neighborhood kids enjoyed. He was always helping others; he took pleasure in making his famous peanut butter fudge for friends and family and donating batches to the Boalsburg Carnival’s Auxiliary bake sale. Words like great father, attentive husband, hard worker, selfless, loving, humble and jokester, only begin to scratch the surface of his character and how he will forever be remembered. The love he had for family and his Lord and Savior never wavered.

Along with his wife, Rudy is survived by his five daughters, Nancy Winter and her husband, Van, of Boalsburg, Susan Rossman and her husband, Ron, of Pennsylvania Furnace, Diana McClellan and her husband, Bill, of East Petersburg, Ruth Ann Fleck of Pennsylvania Furnace, and Connie Rainelli and her husband, Dan, of Parkesburg; 12 grandchildren, Kristina Heidrich and her fiancé, Steve, of Chambersburg, Kimberly Ghaner and her husband, Steve, of Fayetteville, Ronald Rossman, Jr and his wife, Emily, of Alexandria, William Rossman and his wife, Jennifer, of Warriors Mark, Michael Rossman and his wife, Brittany, of Tyrone, Emily Kershner of Lancaster, Benjamin Franze of Lancaster, Robert Fleck and his wife, Sarah, of Philipsburg, Melissa Dietrich of Windsor, Melanie May and her husband, Dan, of Boalsburg, Carly Rainelli of Parkesburg, and Anna Rainelli; 16 great grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Davies and her husband, Irving “Butch”, of State College; and his sister in-law, Rose Dillon of Centre Hall.

Along with his parents, Rudy was preceded in death by his daughter Ruby Caroline Dillon in 1963; one granddaughter, Sarah Franze in 2001; four great grandchildren; his brother, Robert Dillon; and his sister, Geraldine Hutchinson.

Family and friends will be received and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date and will be announced. This information will be updated on our website when it is scheduled. He will be laid to rest privately at Centre County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
