Ruth E (Schenck) Myers

Ruth E. Myers, 93, of Beech Creek, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on December 11, 1927, in Monument, she was the daughter of the late David and Helen (Kunes) Schenck. On November 12, 1948, she married Thomas P. Myers, Sr.  Thomas passed away on July 17, 2005.

   Ruth was a 1945 graduate of John Harris High School in Harrisburg. Following high school, she attended one year of nurse’s training. She soon discovered that was not her calling. After she married Thomas, she found her purpose in life and that was to create a loving home for her family.

   She was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ.

   Ruth was very athletic in her youth. She played softball and even became a manager of a softball team. She loved the Duke Basketball team. She was an avid watcher of game shows on TV and enjoyed playing computer games, especially Pac Man. She liked to go shopping and of course eat out with her friends.  Ruth enjoyed traveling to Arizona to visit her daughter and family. 

   Ruth is survived by one son, Thomas P. Myers, Jr and his wife, Sue, of State College, four grandchildren: Aaron Myers and his wife, Natalie, Abigail Myers-Hardesty and her husband, Russell, Carol Bell and her husband, Scott, and Sarah Elliott and her husband, Robby and four great grandchildren: Kenneth, Alice, Adriana, and Lila.

   Ruth is also survived by one son in-law, Steve Stern of Peoria, AZ, and one brother, D. Kenneth Schenck of Camp Hill, PA.

   Along with her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia J. Stern and sister, Jean Duke.

   There will be a graveside service on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 11am at the Blanchard Church of Christ Cemetery with Pastor Russell Moldovan officiating.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Blanchard Church of Christ, 161 Beach St. Blanchard, PA 16826.
