Sallie Jean (Mokle) Stine

Sallie Jean (Mokle) Stine, 78 of Howard, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2021 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center after a courageous twelve year battle with multiple myeloma cancer.  She was born on April 8, 1943, daughter of the late William Mokle and Catherine (Wentzel) Mokle.  On May 23, 1964 she married James C. Stine.  Together they shared 56 years of marriage.

Sallie was a 1961 graduate of Bellefonte High School where she was very active with student council activities, as well as holding the title of “Miss Bellefonte” her senior year.  She retired in 2005 from Centre Crest Nursing Home as the payroll clerk after 27 years of employment.  Sallie enjoyed baking in her spare time, making Sunday family dinners, spending time with her family and friends as well as stays at camp.

In addition to her husband, at home, she is survived by three daughters: Sharon (Sam) Royer of Howard, Amy Stine of Howard, and Erin Harpster of Centre Hall.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren:  Chelsea (John) Deitrich, Brady Schmidt, Evan Royer, Maelyn (Caleb) Harpster, Branson Harpster, Laurel Fogleman, Rylan Stine, and Kerrigan Stine; three great-granddaughters Olivia and Scarlett Gilmore and Alayna Deitrich as well as another great-granddaughter expected in July.  Also surviving are brother-in-laws, Rodney (Melissa) Stine, Douglas (Gloria) Stine, and Richard (Jane) Stine and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her in-laws Kenneth and Julia Stone, a brother-in-law Timothy Stine and a son-in-law, David Harpster.

As per her wishes services will be private at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin St. Ste 206, State College, Pa. 16803.
