Verna Evelyn Carter, 92, of Milesburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Centre Care. Born on October 22, 1932, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Cal and Bessie (Ulmer) Corman. She was married to her beloved husband, Bruce Carter, who preceded her in death on November 5, 2018.
Verna was a graduate of Bellefonte High School. She worked at the former Centre Crest for over 40 years until her retirement as the Supervisor in Housekeeping.
She is survived by her son, Gary Carter (Melissa) of Bellefonte, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Bruce, and parents, Carl and Bessie, she was predeceased by five sisters and four brothers. She was the last of her generation.
Verna was a past member of the Zion Community Church. She enjoyed going to carnivals and flea markets and loved to cook!
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home, with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. Burial services will immediately follow at Zion Cemetery in Bellefonte.
