William “Bill” Boyd Houser

Bill “Sugar Bear” Boyd Houser, 76, of Bellefonte, died on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at home. He was born on January 12, 1945 in Bellefonte, a son of the late Edward and Virginia Houser. On April 25, 1970, he married Virginia L. (Schaeffer) Houser, who survives at home after sharing over 50 years of marriage together. 

Bill attended Bellefonte High School. He worked for Bellefonte Lime Co. for 42 years, from 1967 until 2009. 

In addition to his wife, Virginia, he is survived by one son, Timothy Houser of Bellefonte, and his grandchildren, Emily, and Ryan Houser, and Xander Calvert. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Anita, one brother, Ed Houser, and one sister, Joyce Shuey.

Bill was a lifetime member of the Undine Fire Co. and umpired slow-pitch softball recreationally. He was also a member of the Purdue Mountain CB Club, where he used the handle “Sugar Bear.” After his retirement, he enjoyed sitting on the porch, and visiting with friends and family who stopped by. 

Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
