Wilma M. Yarger, 86, of Centre Hall, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on August 14, 1936, in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Frances (Moore) McTavish. On September 8, 1956, she married the love of her life, Duane E Yarger, Sr, who preceded her in death earlier this year on March 19, 2022.
Wilma was a 1954 graduate of Philipsburg High School. She worked at the General Cigar Factory in Philipsburg before she started having children. She then worked for Jostens for 20 years, as a proof makeup operator.
Wilma was an amazing woman, wife, sister, aunt, but her most cherished titles were mom, gram, and grandma. She enjoyed camping at the beach, being beside her husband while fishing, completing jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and her flowers. She loved playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an excellent Grandma and took that role very seriously. She was a caretaker in the truest of terms, she cared for everyone, especially family, and would act as their medical advocate if she felt she needed to. She was a strong willed and highly opinionated person who loved to smile and see others smile as well. She missed her husband dearly, but now they are dancing together rejoicing at their reunion.
Wilma is survived by her children, Duane E. Yarger, Jr and his wife, Kathleen, Robert A. Yarger and his wife, Lori, and Ruth Ann Floray and her husband, Scott, all of Centre Hall; seven grandchildren, Jon Yarger, Ian Yarger and his wife, Elizabeth, Alicia Kollar and her husband, Colin, Shannon Anderson and her husband, Zach, Adam Yarger and his wife, Lauren, Zachary Floray, and Sara Floray; and seven great grandchildren, Charlie, Annalee, Hank, Ramona, Greta, Elijah, and Riley.
Wilma is also survived by two brothers, William McTavish and his wife, Gloria, of Bigler and James McTavish an his wife, Caroline, of West Decatur; four sisters, Mary Quick of Morrisdale, Barbara Dixon of Wallaceton, Shirley Timchak of Gearhartville, and Judith Quick and her husband, Marvin, of Mineral Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 6-8pm, at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc in Centre Hall. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 11am, at the funeral home with Pastor David Downer officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Boalsburg Cemetery.
