The natural beauty of stately Mount Nittany serves as a fitting backdrop for our season opener, with the Nittany Lions set for a return to normalcy (in more ways than one, we hope) with a stiff test, opening the season on the road in Madison against the Wisconsin Badgers. Can new offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich’s wide-open offense help Penn State counter Wisconsin’s experienced defense on the way to handing the Badgers their fifth straight loss to the Lions?

This week, the guys look back on the off-season that everyone hopes got the program back on track to Big Ten title contention after a disastrous fake season in 2020 that began at 0-5, the worst start in the history of Penn State football. Mike the Mailman visits Penn State Football Media Day to challenge Sean Clifford, Keyvone Lee, and many other Nittany Lions with the hard-hitting questions that conventional journalists are afraid to ask. We visit with Celesta Powell, Queen of Alcohol in Centre County, to preview our weekly in-season visits to the four brewers, four family wineries, three cideries, and two distilleries that make up the Central Pennsylvania Tasting Trail. Brandon, Chris, Kevin, and Mailman preview Penn State’s matchup with Wisconsin, and they give their predictions for the Nittany Lions’ season record and score of the game on Saturday + Mike the Mailman looks ahead to some of next weekend’s best gambling plays in his first Trends to Treasure segment of the year.
