Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Patton Township Crash

no description

A 26-year-old man sustained serious injuries after being struck by a driver on Saturday night in Patton Township.

The female driver of a vehicle was attempting to turn left from Clearview Avenue onto Waddle Road at about 8 p.m. when she collided with the man, who was walking in the crosswalk, Patton Township Police Chief Tyler Jolley said.

A medical helicopter was unable to fly because of weather conditions, so the man was taken to UPMC Altoona by Centre LifeLink EMS ambulance to be treated for serious injuries.

Jolley said he is awaiting an update from the hospital about the man’s condition.

The investigation is ongoing, but Jolley said initial findings indicate alcohol and drugs were not factors.

Waddle Road in the area of the crash was closed for about two hours while State College and Ferguson Township police officers from the Centre County Accident Reconstruction Team investigated.

Alpha Fire Police also responded to assist with shutting down the road.
