Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Add Another Four-Star Back to 2022 Class

Penn State has added its 11th, four-star prospect to its 2022 recruiting class, this time in the form of 5-foot-11, 220 pound Kaytron Allen from IMG Academy in Florida.

Allen verbally committed to the Nittany Lions late Friday afternoon and choose Penn State over a handful of final schools including Georgia, Michigan State and Florida.

The commitment marks the 19th of Penn State’s 2022 class and the second high-profile back for the Nittany Lions this cycle. Allen joins four-star back Nicholas Singleton who is rated the 77th best prospect in the 2022 class by the 247 Network.

As for Allen, he is rated the 10th-best back in the class and the 132nd overall prospect of the 2022 cycle while the 247 Network ranks Allen as the 18th-best prospect in the state of Florida. Allen is the seventh verbal commitment this month for James Franklin and his staff with a handful of pending decisions set to be announced by various recruits this weekend and in the final few days of July.

Allen is the second high-profile commitment of the week after Penn State picked up its first pledge to its 2023 class on Thursday.

Four-star defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton is set to announce his college decision on July 22nd, the Maryland native is expected to verbally commit to Penn State according to the 247 Network.

The Rivals recruiting network rates Penn State’s class the third-best in the nation and second-best in the Big Ten behind Ohio State.
