Penn State Football: Parker Washington Declares for NFL Draft

Penn State receiver Parker Washington will enter the NFL Draft, he announced on Friday afternoon. Washington missed the final two games of Penn State’s regular season with an undisclosed injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the year. As such Washington’s announcement would not constitute an opt-out from the Nittany Lions’ upcoming appearance in the Rose Bowl against Utah.

In spite of the injury, Washington finished the 2022 regular season as Penn State’s leading receiver pulled down 46 passes for 611 yards (13.28 yards per catch) and two touchdowns. The Texas native had his best performance of the year against Ohio State when he hauled down 11 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown in Penn State’s eventual loss to the Buckeyes. Washington is generally seen as a middle-round draft choice.

At the conclusion of his career Washington finds himself having posted historically significant numbers as a reliable pass catcher. All said and done, Washington recorded 146 catches for 1,920 yards and 12 touchdowns. Those figures rank No. 9 all-time in catches, No. 12 all-time in yardage and No. 16 all-time in receiving touchdowns in Penn State’s storied program history.

With the departure of senior wideout Mitchell Tinsley, Penn State will now call KeAndre Lambert-Smith its leading returning wide receiver with 21 catches for 265 yards and three scores to his name. Redshirt freshman Harrison Wallace III sits not far behind with 17 catches for 226 yards and one touchdown.
