Penn State Football: Quarterback Commit Set For All-American Bowl Appearance

Future Nittany Lion quarterback and 2022 verbal commitment Drew Allar accepted an invitation to the 2022 All-American Bowl earlier this week. Allar announced the invitation on his Twitter account. Allar verbally committed to Penn State back in March and hails from Medina (Ohio) High School.

The All-American Bowl takes place Jan. 8 in San Antonio at the Alamodome. The current four-star prospect will take part in an event that has had no shortage of Nittany Lions over the years. Most recently receiver and future teammate KeAndre Lambert-Smith, linebacker Micah Parsons, and offensive tackles Rasheed Walker and Caedan Wallace all took snaps as part of the event in recent years.

The game is broadcast nationally on NBC.

Allar is one of two quarterbacks currently committed to Penn State as members of the 2022 recruiting cycle. He joins Beau Pribula in the 2022 haul. Allar is rated the No. 7 pro-style quarterback in the class and currently the No. 89 overall prospect by the 247 Network’s rankings. Allar hits the scales at 6-foot-5, 228-pound and was offered by a handful of Power Five schools including Michigan.

Pribula is rated significantly lower on the 247 Composite rankings coming in at No. 370 overall and the ninth best dual-threat quarterback in the class.

Penn State’s 2022 class is rated the sixth best in the nation with 10 verbal commitments and the second best in the Big Ten. Seven of Penn State’s 10 commitments are rated four-stars.
