Penn State Football: Three Games Added To Future Schedules

Penn State football announced three out of conference games for its 2024 and 2026 schedules Thursday with future meetings against Kent State, Marshall and San Jose State now on the docket.

The Nittany Lions will face Kent State for a late September, 21st meeting in 2024 which will mark the seventh clash against the Golden Flashes. Penn State is 6-0 in the series. The 2024 meeting is a rescheduling of the 2020 game that was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Penn State’s other non-conference opponents in 2024 are West Virginia and Bowling Green. 

As for the 2026 campaign, Penn State has added meetings against Marshall and San Jose State with the game against San Jose State is also a rescheduled contest from the 2020 season that was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Penn State is 2-0 against Marshall but the two programs have not met since 1930.

The Nittany Lions will welcome the Thundering Herd to Beaver Stadium on September 5, 2026, while San Jose State is slated to visit two weeks later on September 19.

All things being equal, Penn State’s showdown against Marshall would mark the return of former Penn State assistant coach Charles Huff who is now the Herd’s head coach entering his first year at the helm in 2021.

The Nittany Lions’ only other contest scheduled for 2026 as of now is a battle with Temple at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, September 12. 

There is no indication at this point when or if Penn State’s canceled 2020 meeting at Virginia Tech will be rescheduled.
