Penn State Hockey: Aarne Talvitie Signs Contract With New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils announced Thursday morning that Penn State men’s hockey forward Aarne Talvitie has signed a two-way, entry-level deal with the organization starting in the 2021-2022 season. 

Talvitie signed an AHL contract with the Binghamton Devils for the remainder of their 2020-2021 season. He will play for the organization after he completes his quarantine. The forward was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Draft. 

The Finland native captained his home country to gold in the 2019 IIHF World Junior U20 Championship. Talvitie injured his knee during the gold medal game and missed the second half of his freshman season, where he put up 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 17 games.

During his sophomore season, Talvitie skated in 30 games and posted 19 points (six goals, 13 assists). He was named alternate captain for this 2020-2021 season and put up 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 21 games played, which was good for fifth on the team. 

Talvitie ended his career with the Nittany Lions with 48 points (18 goals, 30 assists) in 68 NCAA games.
