Penn State Women’s Hockey Ranked No. 8 in Latest Poll

Penn State women’s hockey historic season continued this past weekend with a series sweep over Mercyhurst with 2-1 and 4-1 victories.

The wins push the Nittany Lions’ record out to 8-1-1 a mark good enough to see them ranked No. 8 in the latest USCHO.com poll after making their ranking debut not long ago.

Penn State is set to face Lindenwood on the road this coming weekend. The Nittany Lions earned a series sweep to open the season against Lindenwood with 3-0 and 4-1 victories.

The Nittany Lions’ only regulation loss came against Syracuse in the middle a six-game road trip. Penn State is 5-0-1 inside Pegula Ice Arena and will play just two of its last six regular season games at home.

Penn State is currently two points ahead of Robert Morris atop the CHA standings and have won each of the past two meetings. The Nittany Lions will host the Colonials Feb. 5 and Feb. 6 for what could be a decisive pair of games in the conference race.

Penn State is currently ranked No. 3 in the PariWise which would be more than good enough to make the eight team postseason field if the NCAA Tournament were to start today.
