Penn State Wrestling Visits Michigan on Sunday for Rescheduled Dual Meet

Updated with new time and television information.

No. 3 Penn State wrestling (3-0) will travel to Ann Arbor on Sunday for a rescheduled dual with No. 2 Michigan (3-0), the team announced Friday morning.

The battle of the top-three teams is set to start at 11 a.m. EST and will be broadcast nationally on the Big Ten Network.

The dual meet was originally supposed to be part of a tri-meet with Wisconsin. The match was postponed after Michigan temporarily halted team activities for all of its athletic programs due to widespread COVID-19 concerns.

The Nittany Lions previously were scheduled take on No. 1 Iowa Friday night, but COVID-19 issues on the Hawkeyes’ end postponed the dual.

Penn State will enter Sunday’s contest eager to wrestle, as the team has already had four matches postponed this year. This marquee matchup will be pivotal in not just the Big Ten standings, but the national ranking, too.

“It’s difficult to reschedule. We had to be really creative to get the match in with Wisconsin last week, so we’re willing to do what we gotta do,” coach Cael Sanderson said earlier this week. “We just don’t have a lot of weeks left with the Big Ten Tournament and the nationals coming up, so we’re hoping to get as many matches in between now and the end.”
