6 Candidates Claim Nominations for State College School Board

Six of the seven candidates in the primary election for State College Area School Board of Directors appear to have won nominations to be on the ballot in November, according to unofficial vote totals.

Four State College school board positions are up for election this year. Each of the seven candidates was cross filed on the Democratic and Republican ballots.

Peter Buck and Deborah Anderson both won Democratic and Republican nominations. Carline Crevecoeur and Jackie Huff won the other two Democratic nods, while Michelle Glenn Young and incumbent David Hutchinson won the other two GOP nominations.

Election results are unofficial until certified by the Board of Elections. The deadline to certify is June 7. Unofficial results will be submitted to the Department of State on Tuesday.

Anderson is an economist, parent volunteer in the district and former college professor .

Buck is an academic programs manager in Penn State’s Sustainability Institute and former Ferguson Township supervisor.

Crevecoeur is a community volunteer, educator and retired OB-GYN.

Huff is an assistant teaching professor in Penn State’s College of Engineering and former high school math teacher.

Hutchinson has been a State College Area School Board member since 2003 and is a past president of the Pennsylvania School Board Association.

Young is a parent volunteer in the district and a retired U.S. Navy commander.
