“There are numerous remaining financial and legal challenges facing our university which hinge directly on the findings espoused by Louis Freeh,” the seven alumni-elected trustees said in a statement after hearing the court’s decision in their favor.

It’s been a busy day for the Penn State board of trustees as they held committee meetings at the Penn Stater hotel, but the most notable item of trustee news came out of a courtroom. A judge ruled in favor of seven trustees who sued the university to gain access to Freeh materials.

Ed Poprik, Director of Physical Plant, announced that the project’s cost is within the estimates of $129 million to $140 million. Board president Amber Concepcion said that this was a big step in the updating of the high school facilities for their students.

“It is truly not something I want to spend money on if I can help it,” president Eric Barron said. “It’s an expenditure that is there for some good reasons, but is different because of the way those buildings look. These are not traditional buildings.”
