STATE COLLEGE — Wisecrackers Comedy Club has begun a new season in State College at a new location.

The Basement Nightspot, 112 W. College Ave., will now host the stand-up comedy shows, which began on Jan. 11. Shows are lined up every weekend through the end of March and the club has worked to bring in stand-up comics from New York City to fill feature and headliner spots.

Kevin Brennan and Carie Karavas headlined this past weekend’s shows on Friday and Saturday, respectively. James Tierney, Penn State economics lecturer and founding member of Happy Valley Improv, emceed the first set of shows.

In previous years, Wisecrackers has hosted State College shows at the former Lettermans Sports Grill, the former Celebration Hall and at Ramada Hotel and Conference Center.

Wisecackers Comedy Club is a Pennsylvania-based group with shows in Wilkes-Barre, Allentown, State College and more. Tickets for the State College shows are $20 and are available on the Wisecrackers website, wisecrackers9.tru-m.com/state_college.html.
