Friends of Golden Pond has been working to find a way to reopen the former Girl Scout camp in Petersburg.

Need to get your preschoolers out of the house and occupied for a change of pace? This time of year when it’s cold and dreary can be especially challenging for the mothers and caregivers of preschoolers.

On Feb. 8, Calvary Harvest Fields, 150 Harvest Fields Drive in Boalsburg, will host an exciting night for people 14 and older with special needs. This will be the fifth year, and second locally, for the Night to Shine event — a prom with everything that goes along with it.

Pixie Dust Wishes makes Disney wishes come true for individuals with special needs and their families. The families benefit from the special accommodations that Disney provides for children and adults with disabilities and those who accompany them.

A group of 11 young people from ages 10 to 16 recently combined art, creative writing, reduction block making and quilting to create a show to be featured at Schlow Library through December.

The congregation of St. John’s United Church of Christ, 218 N. Church St. in Boalsburg, will hold a birthday party for its organ at 3 p.m. Sunday. Yes, that’s right — a party for an organ, and one that’s 150 years old at that.
