PETA awarded its Compassionate Fire Department Award to the Alpha Fire Company for its rescue of Skye. The rescue featured a team of people using ropes and a makeshift pulley to haul Skye out of the 15 foot sinkhole.

It only took one semester for the Student Farm Club to achieve one of its major goals: establishing a student-run farm on campus. The plan for the farm on a one-acre plot of land near Beaver Stadium was officially approved Thursday night by university administrators.

Pennsylvania State Police took a father into custody who, according to the release, made threats against his two children who live in Hamilton Hall as part of a family dispute.

Break is over for Penn State’s Board of Trustees. The committee on Governance and Long-Range Planning approved a draft of the university’s strategic plan during a conference call on Monday. The proposed plan’s purpose is to guide Penn State’s institutional direction from 2016-2020.

The Berkey Creamery will be closed during winter break and the beginning of the spring semester to accommodate major renovations. The Creamery hopes to improve product availability, efficiency, and to make shopping in-store a more enjoyable experience.

The Department of Sociology and Criminology has created a scholarship fund in honor of slain state trooper and Penn State graduate Cpl. Bryon Dickson. He was laid to rest last year after he was ambushed outside police headquarters last September.
