A farm, lawn and garden equipment company is planning to move from Route 45 to a larger location in Centre County.
LandPro Equipment, an authorized John Deere dealer currently located on a 4-acre lot at 2818 Earlystown Road, has submitted a land development plan to construct its new store and repair center along U.S. Route 322 near the intersection with Summer Lane in Potter Township, Christopher Schnure, county subdivision and land development planner, said at Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting.
Plans for the new location include a 19,443-square-foot commercial sales and equipment repair building and a 7,500-square-foot pole building for equipment storage near the rear of the 9.5-acre site, adjacent to the Potter Township Athletic Complex. The plans prepared by Century Engineering of Centre Hall also show an outdoor display along the highway, as well as stormwater management, access roads and parking.
Board Chair Mark Higgins said it was “great to see they’re expanding and staying in the county,” but was concerned the new property might be impacted by PennDOT’s plans to construct the State College Area Connector highway.
The nearest possible route for the connector identified in a PennDOT study, however, runs south of the planned LandPro site, Schnure said.
“It’s not going to affect this property that’s being developed,” he said.
Commissioner Amber Concepcion said the new property looks to be a good location for the company.
“It seems like this will be a good addition to that section of 322 where there’s multiple businesses that are related to home design, development, repairs,” she said “There’s quite a few similar businesses along those lines.”
Commissioner Steve Dershem called LandPro “a great company” in his experience.
“Very helpful people and I’m really happy they are relocating in a new area and having more opportunity,” he said.
The board voted unanimously to add to next week’s consent agenda for approval a memorandum of understanding MOU among the developer, Potter Township and Centre County. The agreement is for the developer to reimburse the township for for costs of reviewing, processing and approving engineering details of the plan.
