STATE COLLEGE — The Keystone Contractors Association recently awarded Mike Sgriccia, a senior project manager with Alexander Building Construction Co., with the inaugural KCA Top Young Leader Award.
This award is given to emerging professionals from member companies who play critical roles in the community and professional areas of the construction industry.
In the 10 years Sgriccia has been with Alexander, he has led the construction of 14 projects, totaling more than $182 million, for some of Central Pennsylvania’s largest employers. His experience includes a new dining facility at Indiana University of Pennsylvania; multiple projects for Mount Nittany Health, including the emergency department expansion, Lance and Ellen Shaner Cancer Pavilion and the Perioperative Services expansion; and ongoing work at Penn State’s Beaver Stadium.
Sgriccia is involved in many organizations, including Leadership Centre County and the United Way. He earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering from Penn State, and has various construction-industry accreditations and certifications. He also is a member of the Construction Management Association of America, United States Green Building Council and previously served on the board of directors for the Builders Association of Central Pennsylvania.
Sgriccia is a founding member of the Butz Family of Companies’ in-house Lean Committee, which educates employees on the benefits of lean construction techniques.
“Mike is a leader at our company and in the industry,’ said Christopher Magent, general manager of the State College office and business development director of the Butz Family of Companies. ‘He is innovative, responsible and committed to our community. We are proud to have Mike on our team in a senior management role and honored he was the first person to receive the KCA Top Young Leader Award.’
