Service to and from Washington, D.C. will return this summer at State College Regional Airport.

United will begin operating two daily direct flights between Washington Dulles International Airport and State College on June 27. Service between State College and Newark Liberty International will be discontinued with the start of the Dulles flights, a spokesperson for the airline confirmed.

“We are continually working with the airlines to create the most efficient options for our travelers,” James Meyer, executive director of the Centre County Airport Authority, said in a statement. “Although staffing issues continue to be an issue in the airline industry, we’re optimistic that these new flight options will benefit our travelers making connections on international and southern routes.”

The Dulles flights will be served by a CommuteAir Embraer 145, which is a 50-seat jet. Flights will operate on the following schedule:

SCE-IAD:
Depart 10:20 a.m., arrive 11:13 a.m.
Depart 3:05 p.m., arrive 3:58 p.m.

IAD-SCE:
Depart 1 p.m., arrive 2:02 p.m.
Depart 5:48 p.m., arrive 6:54 p.m.

United suspended flights between Dulles and State College in 2022 amid a shakeup in its regional service to to “closely match supply with demand,” as it experienced a pilot shortage. The Dulles service was replaced with twice daily flights to Newark, United’s primary transatlantic hub.

The airline also currently operates daily flights to Chicago O’Hare from State College. American Airlines has daily service between State College and Philadelphia.
