Way Fruit Farm Downtown Market & Cafe Now Open

Way Fruit Farm’s Downtown Market & Cafe is now open to the public.

The store opened its doors on Friday at 252 E. Calder Way in State College, the former location of Little Food Court.

The downtown location will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Way Fruit Farm is a 150-year-old family farm located in Stormstown that opened the downtown storefront to add to its fresh, locally focused food offerings in State College.

A variety of fresh produce is available for purchase, including apples, peaches, tomatoes, watermelon, and corn.

The market is reasonably priced and a convenient stop for individuals who live in the downtown area. Local tomatoes are just $1.99 per pound.

Way’s is also selling jars of its apple sauce and apple butter.

One of the shop’s most unique features is its soda wall. A variety of old-fashioned and flavored sodas are available in classic glass bottles.

To the left of the soda wall, customers can find packaged nuts, candy, jars of honey, pickles, syrups, and jams. Many items are from Centre County and surrounding counties.

Three refrigerators hold cold beverages and dairy products. Customers can purchase eggs, cheese, milk and meats.

In addition to fresh fruit, vegetables and specialty dried goods, Way Fruit Farm’s new location has a cafe with plenty of table seating. The cafe is open for lunch and dinner, and here you can find the farm’s famous apple cider donuts.

There’s a selection of candy next to the register, too.

While the downtown shop is smaller than the Port Matilda location, it still offers the same sort of goodies on its two floors.

Way Fruit Farm is one of several new businesses that have opened or are expected to open soon in downtown State College. Last week, Planet Fitness opened on Fraser Street. Chew Chew Bun, Oeuf Boeuf et Bacon, The Squirrel And Acorn Bookshop, and Mezeh Mediterranean Grill are expected to open in the near future.
