Centre Region Parks and Recreation will lift capacity limits and most masking requirements at its facilities beginning Monday.

Park Forest and Welch community pools will return to full capacity and the requirement to wear masks at the entrance gate and in restrooms will be eliminated, according to a news release. CRPR recommends patrons who are not fully vaccinated wear masks at the gate and restrooms.

Additional COVID-19 disinfections at the pools will continue for the remainder of the season, as staffing levels allow.

While small pavilion rentals already permit 100% capacity, large pavilion rentals within community parks also will be available at full capacity starting Monday. Sports field rentals will allow 100% capacity as well.

For both pavilion and field rentals, COVID-19 specific waivers and safety plans will no longer be required, though acknowledgment of standard rules and regulations remains mandatory.

Water fountains in all parks will become available for use next week as they are inspected and cleaned.

CRPR will begin accepting special event/fundraiser rental requests, but they must be initiated at least 60 days prior to the event date.

“The volume of pavilion requests is very heavy at this time, so any Special Event/Fundraiser Event requests must allow the minimum lead time in order for staff to be able to review the requests, review documentation, and allow for all required paperwork to be submitted in a timely manner,” a statement from the agency said.

Some programming will still require masking when in small groups or indoor spaces, particularly if young children who are not yet eligible to be vaccinated are involved. Summer camps will follow those protocols when under pavilions or in emergency shelters. When campers are involved in active games or sports, masks will not be required.

The Centre Region Active Adult Center will continue operating on a limited schedule until CRPR receives directives from the Pennsylvania and Centre County offices of aging.

Because of state and local mitigation measures in place at the time, CRPR reopened facilities and programming in the spring with some capacity limits still in place, as well as masking guidelines for staff interactions and program participants in small groups and indoors.

Since then, capacity restrictions have been lifted across Pennsylvania and among Centre Region municipalities, while the remaining provisions of the statewide masking order will lifted on Monday.
