Curtin Village will hold its annual Christmas at Curtin holiday event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6 and on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 251 Curtin Village Road, Howard.

During the event on Saturday, families can take free holiday photos in the mansion’s decorated parlors and kitchen or outdoors with the Curtin Excursion Wagon. Photos in the parlor will be taken by a Penn State photographer, though guests may also take their own pictures or videos.

Santa will make an appearance, and children can participate in free crafts with adult supervision.

On Sunday, a ticketed, adult-focused holiday reception will feature a festive reading, wine, food and a Curtin Village souvenir gift. Tickets are $35 for individuals and $60 for couples.

The 2025 celebration marks the culmination of a six-year effort by the volunteer-run Roland Curtin Foundation to acquire Eagle Iron Works and Curtin Village, returning the site to local ownership and stewardship.

The Roland Curtin Foundation preserves and interprets Eagle Iron Works and Curtin Village, a nationally significant 19th-century iron plantation, through community engagement, education, and preservation efforts, according to a press release. The nonprofit foundation continues to rely on volunteers, donations, memberships, grants and special events like Christmas at Curtin to support its mission of historic preservation and education.

Reservations for Sunday’s event can be made by emailing curtinvillage@gmail.com with the number of attendees.
