LEMONT — The 12th annual German-style “Weihnachtsmarkt” will celebrate Christmas in Lemont with local crafts, music, bratwurst, treats, beverages and good spirits.

The German Christmas Market will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Grain Elevator and Coal Sheds, also known as the Granary, on Mount Nittany Road.

A total of 25 artists will present their local products and crafts at the event.

There will be a warming fire outside and music Friday evening, opening the market with Christmas cheer and grilled bratwurst and hot dogs for supper. Dress for the weather as there is no heat in the Granary buildings, and have a cup of hot cocoa or warming German drink with good friends and neighbors — all that is needed to start the holidays right.

Local merchants will have special hours and offerings, making it a festive weekend throughout Lemont. Santa will be available for visits and photos on Saturday afternoon from noon to 4 p.m.

All proceeds go to the restoration and maintenance of the historic Grain Elevator and Coal Sheds.
