A tasty fundraiser for local nonprofit organizations is returning to downtown State College for the first time since 2019.

The State College Downtown Rotary Club will hold its seventh annual Ice Cream Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on the 200 block of South Allen Street.

“One of the things I love about the State College Downtown Rotary Club is even our fundraising efforts are fun,” club President Don O’Connell said in a statement. “Who wouldn’t want to bring their family to eat some ice cream and have a good time, knowing the money they spend goes right back to helping in their community?”

The day will feature eight ice cream vendors, as well as Discovery Space making liquid nitrogen ice cream brownies. The festival also will include face painting, ice cream-themed activities, a live radio broadcast and a Dairy Queen Dilly Bar eating contest between the State High football team’s offense and defense starting at 1 p.m.

Tickets are five for $5 or 25 for $20, with each ticket good for one sample.

Proceeds will be distributed to non-profit organizations located in Centre County.

State College Downtown Rotary Club and its more than 60 members raise funds and engage in programs to support global humanitarian efforts and local nonprofits. For more information, visit the club’s website and Facebook page.
