Local businesses and individuals helped raise $55,000 for Tides — a nonprofit providing grief support — during the organization’s inaugural “A Night at the Barn” cocktail gala Aug. 12 on the grounds of the Historic Barn at Cooke Tavern in Spring Mills.
More than 150 guests filled the barn for an evening of fun and to learn more about the free programs Tides offers to provide safe and compassionate peer grief support programming to Centre Region children, teens and adults who have experienced the death of a loved one.
Holly Oxendale, Tides executive director, said the event’s success will help the organization expand its programs.
“The night was everything we hoped it would be and more,” Oxendale said. “We had to go on a waitlist on days leading up to the event… We could not have asked for better weather either. It was a beautiful evening for guests to join us, learn about Tides, enjoy cocktails, dinner and, of course, dancing towards the end of the evening.”
